Alan Moore by Frank Quitely

It’s in the eyes, the set of the mouth, the beard… Alan Moore has aged into a curmudgeonly old bastard, but a fearsome one worthy of our respect and admiration. Quitely’s portrait captures him perfectly with a certain unblinking candor.

While I’m not as much of a fan of Watchmen as other people, From Hell is by far one of my all-time favorite comics. I’d also count Brought To Light, Promethea, and V For Vendetta (especially “Valerie”) as high points in Moore’s career.
