I’d like to see RYUTist perform again. An indie group from Niigata, I was lucky enough to see them perform when I went to Idol Matsuri in Washington in 2014. The group impressed me then with their performance skills, and they have quite a few great songs – as an indie group they’ve managed to create a pretty solid discography over the years.

Blue is no exception – I love how mellow this song is without being too slow or boring. It has a really dreamy feel, and that’s helped by the performance and vocals of the members. I also love the sound of the chorus and how “blue” is rhymed with “you” and  “truth” (not a perfect rhyme but it works here). It adds to the overall dreamy, mellow feeling of the song – that repeated “oo” sound. The instrumentation also adds to that sound as well – the acoustic guitar sound works really well here.

Blue is an easy song to listen to and one that I feel like I’ll listen to again and again. It’s got a perfect tempo and melody that make it pleasant to listen to when I don’t feel like listening to something overly hyperactive or overly slow. It’s also nice to see that RYUTist is continuing to put out great music.
